Rouge: Why must you leave me?
Noir: You know I cannot stay
here. I must return to my
own kind, where I am at
peace.
Rouge: If you cannot stay,
then take me when
you go!
Noir: I cannot.
My world is so different.
We are so different, you
know.
Rouge: Then let me darken my hair,
make my skin paler. Anything to
be like you, to be accepted into
your world so that you will not
abandon me today.
Noir: But what if it rains and the
white washes off? What if
the wind blows and the false
hair flies away?
Noir: There is nothing we
can do. I must go.
You must stay.
Rouge: Oh, but I love you more
than words can 'ere
express! Won't you let
me go with you?
Noir: Yes, my love, Yes!
This story is inspired by a US Civil War song where a young woman begs her love to let her
fight at his side. Many women did go into battle or followed their men during that terrible war.
I have changed the words, except for the last two lines which are from the original.
